Services Engineer (Europe)

Your role as Service Engineer

  • Provide technical services and support for BroadForward’s product suite
  • Perform delivery activities including solution architecture & design, implementation and integration, system provisioning, acceptance test creation and execution, completion of technical documentation and other services as specified by the support contract and statement of work (SOW)
  • Perform support activities required to resolve technical customer issues, including call handling, problem analysis, troubleshooting, validation and maintenance activities and participation in 24×7 support shifts
  • Provide product training to customers
  • Create new tools and automate existing ones to improve the efficiency of product deployment and maintenance
  • Ensure established quality control procedures are adhered to as well as be able to refine and improve upon them
  • Provide customers with a consistently high-quality experience

Profile

  • Talented and passionate professional, with at least 5 years of experience with software solutions in the Telecommunications industry
  • Knowledge of Telecom signaling core network architectures, components, protocols and their usage
  • Expertise in contemporary IP networking, especially in solutions architecture in the Telecom domain
  • Deployment and support experience in customer-facing roles
  • BS/Master degree in Telecoms, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving/analytical skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on technical experience in any of the following technical areas (in order of importance, the more the better):
    • Network application protocols (e.g. Diameter, SS7, HTTP/2, SIP)
    • TCP/IP, SCTP, analysis of network packet captures (e.g. via Wireshark)
    • RedHat operating system
    • Linux system administration and management (e.g. YUM and RPM, firewalld)
    • Scripting (e.g. Shell, Perl, Python)
    • 3GPP and IETF standards
    • High availability solutions
    • Database interfaces (noSQL, SQL, LDAP)
    • Virtualization and cloud solutions (VMWare, OpenStack, Containerization)
    • Intel X86 based hardware
    • Security solutions
    • Network equipment (e.g. routers, firewalls)
    • SNMP and Network Management Systems
  • Strong oral and written communications skills. Able to read, write and speak English fluently, including technical terminology
  • Flexibility with respect to after-hours support duty, work hours
  • Ability to manage multiple customers and priorities based on customer and business needs
  • Self-starter, pro-active, able to take initiative and to work independently
  • Remote (Europe) or allowed to work in The Netherlands (EU passport)
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to international customer sites
