BroadForward lands its 7th Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards nomination, this time for its Signaling Firewall

Amersfoort, February 6, 2023

BroadForward, a leader in intelligent routing, security, interworking and number portability solutions for mobile networks, is proud to announce its nomination by the GSMA for the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards in the category Best Mobile Security. This is already the 7th time BroadForward has been nominated by the GSMA for excellence of its core network products. In 2021 BroadForward won the GLOMO Award for Best Mobile & Network Software Breakthrough for their converged signaling solution enabling “4G-5G Hybrid Core” deployment models, uniquely allowing operators to opt for a gradual transition from 4G to 5G Core.

The 2023 GLOMO nomination is for the BroadForward converged Signaling Firewall, a state-of-the-art software solution offering intelligent security features which support GSMA recommendations to counter threats, including the most sophisticated location fraud scenarios.

The GSM Association, with over 750 mobile operator members and 400 companies in the wider mobile ecosystem, represents the interests of mobile network operators worldwide. Recently the GSMA advised the larger telecom community to deploy signaling firewall technologies to support the monitoring and blocking of signaling traffic to counter various threats.

The Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards, judged by prominent subject matter experts, are considered the industry’s most prestigious honour. The winners will be announced on February 28th during Mobile World Congress, which is the largest and most influential industry event in the world.
The BroadForward Signaling Firewall is the world’s first converged Signaling Firewall with intelligent velocity tracking. It offers support for all GSMA listed threat categories and provides uniform and effective security across 2G/3G, 4G and soon 5G. Among its many features is the ability to determine whether location changes are plausible in terms of the speed required to bridge a certain distance (‘trajectory plausibility’), in order to mitigate threats and to close the window of opportunity for criminals to exploit their scams.

Taco Schoute, CEO of BroadForward commented: “It is fantastic and unprecedented that we have been nominated for a GLOMO Award for the 7th time in the past 10 years. We are truly honoured that our products are recognized for their innovative contributions to the evolution of mobile network technology. Especially security is top-of-mind for service providers, as we enter the age of hyperconnectivity. Our unique converged Firewall provides operators with an intelligent security solution that works across network technologies and has the ability to identify suspicious location changes. With this advanced solution we distinguish ourselves in the market and this nomination is a testament to that. We are looking forward to the award ceremony at Mobile World Congress!”.
